“Stellar Businesses Tell All”

Fortville, Greenfield, and Hancock County have been designated as the Health and Heritage Regional Stellar Community. The region is now eligible for up to $15 Million in grant opportunities. Indiana's Office of Community and Rural Affairs, to increase the state's competitiveness within economic development, runs the Stellar program, and since 2011 has wonderfully benefited businesses in those communities recognized.

On February 20th, former Stellar Community recipients and researchers travel to Fortville to tell all: What successes have previously-designated Stellar Communities achieved, and How can entrepreneurs in Fortville best participate in the designation. The event will be hosted at FoxGardin 215 South Main Street Fortville, IN 46040 at 6PM.

The Fortville Entrepreneurship Initiative welcomes as keynotes:

• Dr. JoAnna Brown of the Sagamore Institute: For over fifteen years, Dr. Brown has worked for both non-profit organizations and local and regional governments in housing, community development and planning, and transportation planning.Dr. Brown’s research focuses are housing, social capital, community development, and public policy. Read the Recent Research Dr. Brown will reference in her keynote.

• Dale Petrie of Crawfordsville: Dale was hired by Crawfordsville’s Mayor to lead the Stellar projects after the community received the designation in 2015. Recent News and Stellar Project Details offer some background into impact these efforts are having on local businesses that Dale will share with us during the event.
