Streetlight Outages

If you want to report a streetlight that is off or is not functioning properly, call the Municipal Building at 317-485-4044. If you call after hours and leave a message, be sure to specify the closest address to the light, the nearest cross street, and which side of the street it is on (North, South, East, West).

Street Sweeping

Street Sweeping is normally done on Fridays starting at 4:00 a.m. Please do not rake or sweep leaves into the street. They can end up in the storm drains and cause them to clog.

Trash Pick-Up

Trash pick up is every Tuesday for persons living on the south side of the railroad tracks and Wednesday for persons living on the north side of the railroad tracks. There is a 4 bag or container limit and trash must be curbside before 6:00 a.m. Recycling is picked up every other week. Recycling tubs are available at the Municipal Building.

Mosquito Season During mosquito season, Fortville takes a proactive approach in attempting to monitor and control the mosquito population in and around town limits.

Excessive rains increase the difficulty and provides a habitat for flood water mosquitoes. You can help by locating and eliminating water on your property. If you have low lying areas that hold water more than five days, most hardware stores carry doughnut shaped Bti briquettes (mosquito dunks) that you can use to treat those areas.
